How to Open Your Database in Excel in 5 Minutes using TransformZ (No Coding Required)

What is Text-to-SQL?

Text-to-SQL (also called natural language to SQL) lets you ask database questions in plain English instead of writing SQL code. Simply type "How many orders were placed last month?" and AI generates and executes the query automatically.

TransformZ brings this to your MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, no separate tools, no duplicate setup required.

Steps to Chat with your Data using AI

Step 1: Connect Your Database to TransformZ

Step 2: Open the AI Chat Interface

  1. Log in to your TransformZ dashboard
  2. Click Data Sources in the left sidebar
  3. Select your connected database
  4. Scroll to the "OData API" section
  5. Click the "Chat with Data" button

Step 3: Start Asking Questions

You'll see the chat interface with:

  • Your OData Service URL (for reference).
  • Example questions to get you started.
  • A text input to type your questions.

How it works:

  1. Type your question in natural language
  2. Our AI converts it to an SQL query
  3. TransformZ executes the query on your database
  4. You get instant results

Important: Our AI never has access to your actual data. It only:

  • Understands your database structure (table/column names)
  • Generates the proper SQL query, Text-to-SQL.
  • Then, TransformZ executes it securely.

Your data stays in your database, always.

Example Questions to Try

Basic queries:

  • Show all records from the users table
  • How many orders were placed last month?
  • List the top 10 customers by total spending

Filtered queries:

  • Show users who registered in 2024

Quick Troubleshooting

"I can't question my database"
→ Ensure your database is connected (status shows "Connected")

"The AI doesn't understand my question"
→ Try rephrasing with specific table names, or check example questions

"I got an error message"
→ Verify the table/column names exist in your database

"Results seem incomplete"
→ Ask for "top 50" or "limit 100" to manage large datasets
